US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday, October 1, that in about a month he would have a meeting with the leader of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Xi Jinping. The politicians intend to make a decision on the ongoing negotiations on a trade deal between the two countries.

One of the important issues in the discussion will be the supply of American soybeans to China.

"Farmers who grow soybeans in our country are suffering because China, solely for "negotiating" reasons, does not buy it. We have earned so much from duties that we are going to take a small part of this money and help our farmers," Trump said on the Truth Social network.

The American leader said he would not let down US farmers, unlike his predecessor Joe Biden, who did not fulfill the agreement with China.

"They were going to buy billions of dollars worth of our agricultural products, especially soybeans. In four weeks, I will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and soybeans will be the main topic of discussion," he announced.

On September 19, China Central Television (CCTV) reported on a telephone conversation between Xi Jinping and Trump. During it, the Chinese leader noted that the United States should avoid unilateral trade restrictions.

After that, the American president announced a "productive" telephone conversation with the Chinese leader, and progress was made on issues of "trade, fentanyl, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the TikTok agreement." Trump added that he had agreed to meet with Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea (October 31 — November 1). And also about his visit to China in early 2026. At the same time, the Chinese president accepted an invitation to come to the United States at an appropriate time.
