NAS Vice President Shaparin appreciated the list of approved cars for taxis
On October 1, Anton Shaparin, Vice President of the National Automobile Union (NAS), commented on the new list of cars approved for taxi service in Russia and noted that its introduction could affect the taxi market in the country.
According to Shaparin, the approved list limits the choice of fleets, offering mainly domestic-made cars.
"What does the industry get in the end? Choose from several models of Avtovaz and Moskvich-3 for Economy class, Moskvich 6 and Moskvich 8 for Comfort + class. It is clear that such strict restrictions will lead to tectonic shifts in the taxi market," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
Shaparin added that not all fleets in Russia will switch to vehicles from the approved list, and many vehicles that still have a license will continue to operate until the last one. At the same time, some fleets may completely withdraw from the passenger transportation market due to new requirements.
Earlier on the same day, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation published a primary list of cars that meet the requirements of the law on taxi localization, which will be operational from March 2026. More than 20 models of six Russian brands meet the criteria of the law.
