Six people were rescued while extinguishing a fire in an apartment building in southwest Moscow. This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the capital on Wednesday, October 1.

The fire occurred on Trade Union Street in an apartment on the seventh floor of a multi-storey apartment building.

"15 people left the premises on their own. Firefighters rescued six people from the floors above and from the neighboring apartment. They were handed over to doctors for examination," the Moscow City News agency quoted the message as saying.

The ministry noted that the fire was extinguished by 26 specialists and seven pieces of equipment of the Moscow fire and rescue garrison.
