Viktor Vodolatsky, First Deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, commented on reports of the use of horses in the free military zone.

In conversation with aif.ru On Wednesday, October 1, he stated that he had not personally encountered such cases, but suggested that an experiment could be conducted somewhere to test when a horse would be more effective than a motorcycle.

The deputy explained that in conditions of bad weather and mud, animals can be a more reliable means of transportation: a motorcycle will not be able to cope with the load, and a horse will be able to pass where the equipment gets stuck. According to him, horses can help in such situations, for example, when capturing strong points.

Vodolatsky added that even today horses can be useful, but their maintenance is more complicated: veterinary care, feed and animal handling skills are required, unlike a motorcycle, which is enough to refuel, writes NSN.
