Professional burnout, apathy, and constant fatigue are signs of an unsuitable profession. Danil Berezhnoy, a business psychologist and organizational development consultant, identified several key symptoms that will help you understand that the work does not meet expectations.

"One of the most striking signals is the constant feeling of boredom and lack of interest. You are absolutely not interested in what you are doing. Tasks seem monotonous, projects seem meaningless, and the workflow takes an excruciatingly long time. You perform your duties on autopilot, without enthusiasm and a desire to improve, and this is a sure sign that the profession does not challenge you and does not touch those soul strings that make you burn," the expert noted.

In addition, a job is not suitable if it contradicts the employee's personal beliefs, for example, a humanitarian works with numbers, and a creative person is forced to follow strict regulations, this also indicates a discrepancy. As a result, there is a strong frustration and a feeling of "someone else's business."

Chronic fatigue and physical ailments such as headaches or sleep problems are also a signal. These symptoms can be the consequences of work that is mentally and physically exhausting.

"Another symptom is constant conflict and a sense of isolation. You notice that you have become irritable, constantly get into arguments with colleagues or superiors, and the atmosphere in the team seems toxic to you. It's often not about others, but about yourself: your subconscious mind is protesting against being in an uncomfortable environment," Berezhnoy added.

The expert also advises listening to your emotions while observing the successes of others. If, instead of inspiration, envy is felt for people from other professions, this may indicate a lack of implementation in current activities.

"What should we do next when the picture has become so clear? Allow yourself to honestly admit that your profession is not suitable for you, and start looking for a business that will bring meaning, joy and money into your life," the expert concluded.

On September 25, cognitive patterns specialist and business consultant Alexey Bondarev shared recommendations on how to prevent burnout at work. He advised me to identify an activity that comes easily and naturally, whether it's idea generation, creativity, or analysis. The expert also identified three types of joys that help maintain balance: physical (sports, massage), impressions (new places, meetings) and solitude (time alone with oneself). Bondarev warned about a common mistake that hinders career growth — defocusing, when a person tries to cover too many areas, which leads to stress and superficial knowledge.
