Owners of two-wheeled vehicles and electric vehicles can now park them for free in paid parking lots in the region, for this you need to submit an application for their inclusion in the register, the Ministry of Transport of the Moscow region reported. The relevant law was adopted by the Moscow City Duma in April.

As the regional agency indicated on October 1, in order to use parking lots for free, owners of electric cars and motorcycles must submit an application on the regional portal of public services, attaching scanned copies of the vehicle's passport and certificate of registration.

The service delivery period is 6 business days. The permit is valid for one year, and after it expires, the procedure will need to be completed again. Parking space is not reserved after obtaining a permit — you can park in any free paid parking space, the agency noted.

The Ministry of Transport of the Moscow region said that now paid parking is operating in 25 settlements of the region, in total more than 5 thousand parking spaces are available. Paid parking in the region has already been used more than 800 thousand times. Paid parking in the Moscow region began operating on November 1, 2024. In May of this year, it was reported that its area of operation was expanded to four cities.

Earlier, on September 18, it was reported that the Russian Ministry of Transport may legislate free parking at home for the first time. The agency is preparing a bill describing the mechanism for car owners to obtain resident permits.
