The French authorities have launched an investigation into the Boracay oil tanker, which has been sanctioned in connection with anti-Russian measures, for violations of sanctions rules. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on September 30.

"Authorities are investigating a possible violation by the Boracay oil tanker, a vessel suspected of belonging to the so—called 'shadow fleet' [allegedly] involved in the Russian oil trade," the publication says.

Representatives of the French Navy said they had sent a message to the Brest city Prosecutor's office after an alleged violation of the rules by the vessel.

At the moment, the tanker is anchored off Saint-Nazaire off the coast of France.

On September 30, the French Navy detained the Benin-flagged oil tanker Boracay, which allegedly transported Russian oil in circumvention of sanctions. An investigation was launched into the vessel because the crew allegedly failed to provide evidence of the vessel's nationality and "failed to comply with orders."

On October 1, political analyst Alexei Yaroshenko told Izvestia that European countries could not prove that the Boracay oil tanker detained in France was linked to Russia, as well as to incidents involving drones over Europe. According to him, this situation is being used to confirm the version about alleged Russian drones in European airspace.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
