An exhibition dedicated to the 55th anniversary of Sportloto has opened in Moscow

An exhibition dedicated to the history of the Sportloto lottery and its role in the development of society has opened on Tsvetnoy Boulevard in Moscow. The organizer was Stoloto, the distributor of the All-Russian state lotteries, together with TASS. The exhibition will run until October 31.

Sportloto has become a vibrant part of the culture, said Ekaterina Tuton, Deputy General Director of S8 Capital Holding, which includes Stoloto. "The Stoloto team has revived the brand, which became a legend back in Soviet times, preserving its history, uniqueness and value, and at the same time bringing the spirit of modernity to it," she stressed.

According to Tuton, the exhibition will tell about the history and mission of the lottery, about the winners and about the important role the lottery brand "Sportloto" plays in financing socially significant projects in Russia today. In particular, since 2022, Sportloto has been a strategic partner of the TRP complex, additionally supporting the development of mass sports in the country from its own funds.

The history of sports lotteries in the USSR began on October 20, 1970 — on this day, the first draw of a new lottery with the numerical formula "6 out of 49", called "Sportloto", was held in the Central House of Journalists. It was invented with the aim of financially supporting the development of sports in the USSR, based on the foreign lottery experience. The main slogan of "Sportloto" was the phrase "You win, the sport wins!".

Since 2014, all lotteries in Russia have been state—owned, organized by the Russian Ministry of Finance and the Russian Ministry of Sports. They are conducted under the state supervision of the Federal Tax Service of Russia. State lotteries distributed by Stoloto are a significant source of replenishment of budgets at various levels of the Russian Federation in order to finance socially significant facilities and events.
