The Russian government is preparing to expand measures to support the domestic fuel market. This was reported on October 1 by the newspaper Kommersant with reference to the appeal of Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

It is noted that the initiative is being considered in the context of falling production and fuel shortages in some regions of the country. Thus, it is planned to reset import customs duties in the amount of 5% on imported gasoline from China, South Korea and Singapore.

The government also proposed allowing the use of monomethylaniline (an octane-enhancing additive to gasoline) in its production for six months. If these proposals are accepted, at least 350 thousand tons of gasoline per month and 100 thousand tons of diesel fuel will be sent to the domestic market per month.

On September 30, the Russian government extended the ban on gasoline exports for all market participants, and also imposed a ban on the export of diesel, marine fuel and other gas oils for non-producers.
