The Cheremushkinsky Court of Moscow found Dmitry Bykov guilty in absentia and sentenced him to 7 years in prison (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation), accused of publicly discrediting the Russian army and evading duties stipulated by the legislation on foreign agents, a participant in the trial told Izvestia.

Earlier, during the debate between the parties, the prosecutor asked in absentia to appoint Bykov 7 years in a penal colony and a fine of 300 thousand.

According to the investigation, Bykov publicly posted the video in the public domain for an unlimited number of people on one of the video hosting sites. This video contained false information about the actions of the Russian army, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia reports.

In addition, Bykov, being a foreign agent, did not provide the information required by law to the authorized body.

Bykov has been living outside of Russia for a long time. He is wanted.
