The lawyer recalled the criminal liability for not calling an ambulance.
Russian citizens who have left a person in a life-threatening condition without assistance can be prosecuted. This was announced on October 1 by Alexander Khaminsky, a lawyer and head of the law enforcement center in Moscow and the Moscow Region.
"If a person is unable to take care of himself due to age, illness or helplessness, leaving him in danger may entail criminal liability, including not calling an ambulance," Khaminsky said.
He explained that responsibility comes for drivers, school employees and medical workers. Doctors who refused to help a patient on duty may be involved under Article 124 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation if this caused harm to the patient's health or death. At the same time, bystanders are not actually responsible for not providing assistance.
Earlier, on September 24, Rosgosstrakh Life expert Gulnara Orlova said that at the first symptoms of the disease in children, it is important to consult doctors rather than self-medicate. She noted that the child's body requires a special approach to medications and dosages, and home experiments can complicate diagnosis. Orlova recommended that all symptoms be recorded, that the child be provided with fresh air, warm drink and a calm regime, and that if there are any alarming signs, an ambulance should be called immediately.
