The Cyprus Consulate in Moscow has suspended accepting visa applications until October 3. Information about this appeared on the website of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Moscow.

In addition, the Association of Tour Operators (ATOR) announced that the Cypriot consulates in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Krasnodar will also temporarily not accept applications. It is specified that this happened due to the introduction of a new entry and exit system in the European Union (EU). Now, when tourists cross the EU border for the first time, they will be required to provide fingerprints and biometric data of the person.

ATOR also stated that Cyprus is preparing to enter the Schengen area, which requires the authorities to strengthen control over the entry of tourists.

Earlier that day, Czech visa centers were closed in Russia. It was reported that from September 30, to apply for Schengen visas to the country, you must contact the consular department of the Czech Embassy in Moscow.

On September 15, the media reported that a number of European Union (EU) countries were in favor of a complete ban on Russian tourists entering the bloc. The ban will require the support of a qualified majority of EU countries.
