The Foreign Ministry noted the understanding of the United States of the importance of finding the root cause of the conflict in Ukraine.

During the meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, US representatives once again confirmed the need for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on September 30 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"On the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, the delegation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks with US Secretary of State [Marco] Rubio in New York in follow-up to the meeting in Anchorage. Everyone confirmed the need to find a peaceful settlement and also spoke about the need to understand the root causes of the conflict," the diplomat said.
