Mironov appealed to Mishustin not to increase recycling

The leader of the Fair Russia — For Truth faction, Sergei Mironov, sent a letter to the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Mikhail Mishustin, with a proposal to abandon the increase in the recycling fee for cars, as well as provide benefits for its payment to large families and members of their families. Mironov announced this in his Telegram channel on September 30.

"Today we are calling on the government to abandon the increase in recycling, and in the future to completely exempt mass-market cars from it and leave them for premium cars. This way we will be able to ensure budget revenues and support the majority of car owners. It will be fair!" wrote Mironov.

He noted that, as experts warn, changes in the recycling calculation procedure will affect the entire car market, as a result, cars will become even less accessible to citizens, including families with children. The increase may have a particularly acute impact on residents of the Far East and Siberia, where there are many imported cars with more powerful engines than AvtoVAZ products, Mironov said.

The draft government decree developed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade assumes the introduction of a new criterion for calculating the size of the scrap yard from November 1 of this year — engine power. The existing grace periods for individual importers who carry cars for personal use (3.4 thousand rubles for new models and 5.2 thousand rubles for cars older than three years) will remain. However, they will only apply to models no more powerful than 160 hp.

Prior to that, on September 19, State Duma Deputy Yaroslav Nilov sent a letter to Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov with a proposal to analyze the consequences of changing the rules for calculating waste collection, including social ones.

At the same time, Sergey Tselikov, General director of Autostat, said that if the rules for calculating recycling were changed, cars of premium brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi would rise in price quite seriously in Russia.
