There have been 308 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 308 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 30 people were killed and 384 injured. 21 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on September 30 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
19 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 33 more road users, including four children, needed medical help. 12 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
So, in Yekaterinburg, a 67-year-old driver of an intercity bus carrying 47 passengers collided with a registered bus with 30 passengers in the cabin moving ahead of him in the same direction. As a result of the accident, 13 passengers of the first bus and one passenger of the second were injured and, after receiving medical care, were sent for outpatient treatment. According to the culprit of the collision, he was blinded by the sun, and he did not see the bus moving ahead.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded bus drivers that the life and health of passengers during transportation depends entirely on their skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding driving behavior.
As a result of 82 accidents involving pedestrians, 32 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 50 outside their area of operation, nine pedestrians were killed, and 74 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 22 young pedestrians, 10 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.
Also, over the past day, 50 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 53 young road users were injured, including 21 passengers, three cyclists and four motor transport drivers. One child, a pedestrian, was killed. So, in one of the rural settlements of the Altai Territory, a 44-year-old drunk car driver ran over a 10-year-old girl who was unaccompanied by adults walking along the sidewalk in the direction of the passing car. The schoolgirl died.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urged road users not to remain indifferent to the problem of drunkenness at the wheel and promptly inform the police about drivers who behave inappropriately on the road. Traffic police are ready to take all necessary prompt measures to respond to such reports.
"In turn, we recommend parents of minors to be more attentive to their children, accompanying them to school, as well as to educational or sports activities. The clothes of young pedestrians should be equipped with retroreflective elements to make them more visible to drivers in the dark or at dusk," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The day before, it was reported that the Russian government has prepared a bill that plans to exclude the possibility for some drivers not to pay fines for excessive tinting of windows.
