Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth fears for his safety after the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. This was reported on September 30 by the Daily Mail newspaper, citing sources.
The interlocutors of the publication claim that in recent weeks Hegseth often swore at employees, staged angry tirades and paid great attention to personal safety issues. One of the sources noted that the anxiety of the head of the Pentagon increased after the assassination of Kirk, and his condition is described as "paranoid" and "panicky."
"He, who created the image of a warrior, is scared," one of the sources told the Daily Mail.
At the same time, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, in response to a request from the newspaper, denied this information, noting the presence of personal insults in the publication's materials. The Daily Mail did not specify which ones.
Kirk died on September 10 after an assassination attempt during a speech at the University of Utah. He played a key role in the victory of US President Donald Trump in the 2024 elections. The suspect, Tyler Robinson, was charged with murder and appeared in court for the first time via video link on September 17.
Kirk's farewell ceremony took place on September 21 at the State Farm in Arizona. There was a queue of thousands in front of the building. Some Americans also came from other states to honor the memory of the murdered activist.
