Car dealers in Russia will not dramatically increase car prices, even taking into account the new recycling calculation mechanism. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov.

"Even taking into account the new mechanics, the price correction of official car dealers will be far from sharp jumps in the direction of price appreciation. Not to mention that buying a car from a dealer means saving on the cost of owning a car due to an official warranty, maintenance, and well—established spare parts supply chains," TASS quoted Alikhanov as saying on September 30.

The minister pointed out that the average price of new foreign cars in the Russian Federation increased by 1.85% over the year after the approval of the long-term recycling scale, which is below the inflation rate. At the same time, according to car dealers Rolf and Avilon, the sale price for a number of popular models in the Russian Federation, on the contrary, decreased. For example, for the Belgee, Exeed and Omoda models, the price dropped by 8-17% over the year, Alikhanov noted.

In addition, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade also noted that changes in the final cost when adjusting the recycling mechanism will affect more cars that are imported into Russia under the alternative import scheme, as well as models of car companies that have ceased operations in the country.

He also pointed out that parallel import supplies were only an additional tool that helped ensure supply in the domestic market during the most acute periods after 2022. Now these needs may well be covered by domestic production and official supplies from friendly countries, Alikhanov stressed.

Also in an interview, Alikhanov explained that changes in the calculation of scrap collection, in which, in addition to the engine capacity of the car, power will be taken into account, are necessary to create fair conditions. Subcompact hybrid engines with a small volume produce power comparable to large gasoline engines.

The day before, it was reported that revenues to the budget of the Russian Federation from the recycling fee for vehicles in 2026 are expected to reach 1.65 trillion rubles, the amount includes 561 billion rubles from imports.
