In China, five people died as a result of poisoning with sulfuric acid vapors.
In the Chinese province of Henan, five workers were killed at the Hexin Chemical chemical plant and three more were injured as a result of poisoning with sulfuric acid vapors. This was reported by the Xiaoxiang Chengbao newspaper on September 30.
"In the Shancheng district of Hebi city, an incident with sulfuric acid vapor poisoning occurred, five people died. One person is in serious condition, his vital signs are stable, two people were slightly injured," the publication says.
According to the preliminary investigation, a sulfuric acid container was spilled during transportation. The caustic substance got into the septic tank of the enterprise, resulting in toxic fumes. Emergency recovery work was immediately launched after the incident.
Earlier, on September 6, it was reported that a fire had occurred at a chemical plant in Indiana, USA. According to the Warrick County Dispatch, crews were called to the 5600 block of Vann Road.
