Certain procedures can cause complications or worsen the problem of facial puffiness. Among them are injections of fillers and biorevitalization, facial massage and some types of lifting. Valeria Alifanova, a cosmetologist, founder and chief cosmetologist of Az Beauty Clinic, told about this on September 30. "Газете.Ru ".

"A puffy face is not just an aesthetic defect, but an organism's signal of a problem. Fluid is trapped in the tissues, and this can be due to dozens of reasons: from a banal excess of salt in the diet to hidden inflammations, kidney problems or hormones," the doctor explained.

She noted that any cosmetic intervention with pre-existing edema increases the load on the lymphatic system and blood vessels. For this reason, instead of the expected lifting or rejuvenation, there is a chance to get the opposite effect in the form of bruises, increased puffiness and increased risk of fibrosis.

According to her, with swelling on the face, injections of fillers and biorevitalization should be avoided.

"Fillers and biorevitalization drugs attract water. If the face is already swollen, additional administration of hyaluronic acid or other hydrophilic components will worsen the situation. Injections can increase congestion, make edema more pronounced and fix them for a long time. Also, with a puffy face, it is worth giving up some types of lifting," the doctor warned.

Alifanova also recommended giving up facial massage and active lymphatic drainage.

"It sounds paradoxical, but with severe edema, these procedures can be harmful. If the cause of edema is inflammation or impaired lymphatic drainage, mechanical pressure will cause additional stress on the vessels," the expert added.

Puffiness is a signal from the body: first you need to understand the causes, identify the problem and eliminate it, the doctor concluded.

Earlier in the day, doctor Ekaterina Dmitrenko explained how to improve the quality of sleep. According to her, most adults need to sleep 7-9 hours per night (about 7.5 hours on average). This is not a whim, but a natural physiological need of the body.
