Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused the European Union of financially blackmailing Moldovan voters. This was stated on September 29 in a statement on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"During their numerous visits to Chisinau on the eve of the elections, European politicians and officials openly campaigned for the Action and Solidarity party, linking the continuation of financial assistance to the republic with its victory. There is a gross financial blackmail of Moldovan voters, outright interference in Moldova's internal affairs by Brussels," the statement said.

It is noted that during the elections, the leaders of European countries accused Russia of allegedly influencing the elections in Moldova.

Earlier in the day, Zakharova noted that the results of the parliamentary elections in Moldova confirmed the deep split in society caused by the destructive course of the country's leadership. In addition, she stressed that the Russian observers in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) mission were denied accreditation.

On the same day, the leader of the Party of Socialists, Igor Dodon, said that the ruling Action and Solidarity party had not won at the polls in Moldova following the results of the parliamentary elections in the country. According to him, the diaspora has done everything possible to ensure that Moldovan President Maia Sandu and the ruling PAS party remain in power in the country.
