A draft on criteria for vacant housing in the North has been submitted to the State Duma

Senators Andriy Shevchenko, Oleg Golov, Denis Gusev, Sakhamin Afanasyev and deputy Alexander Yakubovsky proposed fixing criteria for "empty premises" in apartment buildings in the Far North in the Housing Code, reported on September 29. The document is available in the Duma's electronic database.

The authors explain that abandoned apartments lead to disruption of the thermal contour of buildings and wear of engineering systems.

"The bill proposes to establish the possibility of recognizing residential premises as empty in order to ensure the safety of life and health of citizens, as well as the preservation of property," the explanatory note to the bill says.

It is planned to transfer the decision on recognizing the apartment as empty to the commissions created by local governments.
