Folk remedies can be used to remove fleas from dogs. Marina Tatarenko, a biologist and lecturer at the Department of Teaching Methods of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the State University of Education, told about this on Monday, September 29.

But it is better to use these herbs after special treatment of the dog, to scare away fleas, Tatarenko added.

"To rid a dog of fleas, you can thoroughly bathe it with dust or tar soap. Wash her fur with an infusion of garlic — pour boiling water over the cloves and let it brew, or a decoction of wormwood. Some use household soap mixed with finely chopped onions, vinegar with water or saline solutions for this purpose," the expert said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

She noted that various essential oils that repel fleas are also popular.

However, the effect of such folk remedies is short-lived, and the dog's treatment will have to be repeated almost weekly, the biologist added.

"The most optimal solution may be to use specialized flea shampoos, many of them are prepared with plant extracts and are quite effective and harmless," Tatarenko concluded.
