A woman who lived with her children in a cave in India returned to Russia
Nina Kutina, a Russian woman who lived in a cave in India with her two daughters, returned to Russia. This was announced to Izvestia on September 29 by the Vice-president of the Unified Coordination Center for the Support of Compatriots Abroad Ivan Melnikov.
According to him, after a woman with two young daughters was detained by Indian police, she spent almost a month and a half in "terrible conditions" of a deportation prison in Bangalore. It is specified that they did not want to let her out of there, and many women could stay there from six months to several years.
Melnikov added that while in prison, the children "were seriously ill several times," but they were not provided with the necessary medical care. The Vice President stressed that the prison was not intended for children, there was no opportunity to walk, take a shower, and there was no hot water.
It is noted that the migration prison also did not provide the necessary nutrition and vitamins, which violates all basic standards of detention, even for adult prisoners. According to Melnikov, these are "absolutely unacceptable conditions of detention for women and children, violating the United Nations Convention on Civil and Political Rights (UN) and the Convention against Torture."
The Press Trust of India agency reported on July 12 that Indian police rescued a woman and two children from Russia from the Gokarna cave. They lived in the cave for almost two weeks. It was clarified that the woman came to India on a business visa, she is fond of Indian spiritual traditions.
Later, on July 17, Kutina stated that she and the children were not in danger while living in the cave. According to her, she and her children stayed in the Gokarna cave because of their love of nature. The family has a lot of experience in the jungle and that they were not bothered by the snakes living in the cave, she added.
