The supply of multi-purpose high-precision subsonic Tomahawk cruise missiles from the United States to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will not have a significant impact on the course of the special military operation. This was stated to Izvestia on September 29 by the director of the Museum of the Air Defense Forces, retired Colonel Yuri Knutov.

"The supply of missiles may affect the prolongation of the military conflict. In the future, I believe that in two months our air defense will be adapted, and we will be able to repel Tomahawk attacks quite effectively, as happened with HIMARS," the expert said.

Knutov noted that Tomahawk missiles have an impressive range.: they can be launched from ships at a distance of up to 2.5 thousand km and from ground installations — up to 1.8 thousand km. At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine lacks strategic aircraft and ships to launch these weapons, which limits the use of weapons only to ground-based launchers.

Speaking about the preparation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the use of Tomahawk missiles, the expert noted that the Ukrainian military does not have the necessary skills to work with these missiles and other similar systems. He suggested that American advisers would be involved in the training, who would act under the guise of Ukrainian volunteers.

On September 26, The Telegraph newspaper, citing sources, reported on the request of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at a closed meeting with American leader Donald Trump to supply Kiev with Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of over 1.6 thousand km. It is noted that at the moment it is unknown whether the Ukrainian side will receive weapons.

Later, on September 29, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Kiev, urged not to consider missiles a panacea for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, they will not be able to change the course of their conflict for the Ukrainian side.
