The Scandinavian countries opposed the participation of Russians in international tournaments. This was stated by the senior coach of the Russian national ski racing team, Yuri Borodavko.

"The Norwegians have a very strong Scandinavian lobby. This is a position. The Norwegians are just voicing it more openly," Sport-Express quotes him as saying.

Borodavko added that exactly the same opinion is shared by the Swedish and Finnish sides. In his opinion, central Europe is more or less loyal.

Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), announced on September 28 that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) would consider restoring ROC status in December. He noted that there are good prospects for this.
