The Moldovan Foreign Ministry reported the spraying of tear gas at a site in Iasi
In the Romanian city of Iasi, at polling station No. 38/237, open to Moldovan citizens, an unknown person sprayed tear gas during the parliamentary elections. This was announced on September 28 by the Newsmaker portal with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country.
"According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an unknown person entered polling station No. 38/237 in Iasi and sprayed tear gas. The law enforcement officers who were on the spot quickly detained the man. After that, he was supposed to be taken to the local police station," the publication says.
It is specified that none of those present was injured, medical assistance was not required. The incident temporarily suspended the work of the polling station, but soon the voting continued.
On the same day, it was also reported that during the parliamentary elections in Moldova, there were reports of mining of several polling stations abroad. Similar cases have been reported in Brussels, Rome and Genoa, Bucharest, the American city of Asheville and the Spanish city of Alicante.
Parliamentary elections began in Moldova on this day. Polling stations in the territory of the state opened at 07:00 and will close at 21:00. Thus, 301 polling stations will operate outside the country in order to give citizens abroad the opportunity to vote. The total circulation of the ballots was 864.3 thousand copies. In addition, the turnout in the parliamentary elections exceeded 33%.
