Salaries in the field of mechanical engineering increased by almost 10 over the year%

The machine-building industry in Russia is experiencing an acute shortage of specialists, and employers are ready to raise salaries to attract employees. Over the year, the proposed income increased by almost 10%. This was confirmed on September 28 by the results of a survey conducted by the online recruiting platform. hh.ru .

It is noted that there is an acute shortage of specialists in mechanical engineering in 2025. From January to September of this year, more than 110,000 vacancies were posted in the industry, but each of them accounts for only 1.3 resumes.

"The median salary on offer has increased by almost 10% over the year, reflecting employers' willingness to compete for staff," the TASS platform reports.

Employers who are involved in heavy machinery are increasingly looking for employees with work experience. The largest share of vacancies (61%) still falls on specialists with one to three years of experience.

In addition, the demand for more experienced candidates has increased: in particular, last year only 16% of offers were designed for experience from three to six years, this year — 20%.

The vacancy rate for employees without experience decreased from 20% to 18%. According to analysts, this trend means that the industry is increasingly competing for qualified personnel who are ready to quickly join production processes and have advanced skills in the necessary types of work.

Among the professions in heavy engineering, working specialties are leading, for example, the most in demand are handymen (9%), locksmiths and plumbers, as well as turners, milling machines and grinders (8% each).

Finding employees is hampered by high salary expectations and low skill levels.

On August 18, it was reported that the most sought-after vacancies for the period from January to July of this year were job offers for sales consultants and cashiers. It is specified that this category of workers accounts for 7% of the total number of jobs in 2025 in the country as a whole.
