Baldo announced full fire control of the Russian Armed Forces on the Quarantine Island of Kherson

The Russian Armed Forces have taken full fire control of the Quarantine Island neighborhood in Kherson. This was announced on September 28 by the head of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo.

"The quarantine island is completely under fire from our positions. That's a fact. We are keeping it under fire control," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, despite this, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) continue to use the Quarantine Island as a springboard for individual military operations. He also noted that small groups of Ukrainian militants enter the island at night and hide in houses.

Saldo added that it is still impossible to completely "clear" the island in conditions of night movements of the enemy.

On August 2, the head of the military administration of Kiev-controlled Kherson, Alexander Prokudin, announced the evacuation of residents of the Korabel microdistrict located on Quarantine Island.

On August 3, Baldo stated that the evacuation was due to the fact that the Quarantine Island had been turned into a military base of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, UAV operators are operating on the roofs of residential buildings, from where roaming mortars are fired "from school yards", and ammunition and military equipment are stored at enterprises.
