Lavrov: The UN OHCHR has given an amazing response to the incident in Bucha
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on September 27 that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) did not consider it possible to disclose the names of the "victims" in Bucha to ensure the safety of their relatives.
"The answer says amazing things, that the possibility of disclosing information about the victims is being considered jointly with the Office of Legal Affairs of the secretariat, and then we were informed verbally, however, that the lawyers of the secretariat issued a verdict on the inexpediency of disclosing information about the victims in Bucha in order to ensure the safety of their relatives," he said.
The minister also noted that Russia had asked for at least the publication of the names of those whose bodies were shown on the BBC, but the lawyers of the secretariat ruled that it was inappropriate to disclose information about the victims in Bucha in order to ensure the safety of their relatives.
On September 10, the representative of the Russian Federation at the 60th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Artyom Isakov, said that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) had been categorically silent for 3.5 years on Russia's requests for available information on the events in the Ukrainian city of Bucha. Russian diplomats can't even get a list of alleged victims, let alone forensic medical examination protocols or other evidence, Isakov pointed out.
