Degtyarev announced a record number of participants in the "Presidential Contests"

7.7 million people participated in the All-Russian sports competitions of schoolchildren "Presidential competitions" in the children's center "Eaglet". This was announced on September 27 by Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee.

This tournament has been held since 2011. The competitions are organized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

"Thanks to the initiative of the head of state [Vladimir Putin], these large—scale All—Russian competitions have been held since 2011, and today we have a record coverage - 7.7 million schoolchildren took part this year," he said during a speech at the closing of the final stage of the competition.

According to him, it is at such events that character is tempered, as well as people's love for sports is formed. He also added that the athletes who took part in the "Presidential Contests" set an example for their peers.

The All-Russian sports event with distances from 1 to 12 km will be held simultaneously in all regions of Russia.

On September 22, the XX All-Russian Festival-Forum of Children's and Youth screen art "Boomerang" opened on the basis of the All-Russian Children's Center "Eaglet". The event is attended by more than 200 young filmmakers from 98 media studios in Russia and Belarus, who became winners of the International Teen Competition "Without a statute of Limitations: the Unconquered".
