Lavrov met with the foreign ministers at the UN General Assembly
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
During the UN General Assembly, Lavrov met with colleagues from other countries, in particular, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The conversation was devoted to the situation in Ukraine and the development of Russian-American relations. The diplomats confirmed their mutual interest in resolving the crisis.
In addition, Lavrov held a meeting with Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar. During the meeting, they discussed practical aspects of bilateral relations, including trade and economic cooperation. The Slovak Foreign Minister stressed that his country could not abandon Russian energy sources without serious economic losses.
The Russian Foreign Minister also met with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto and Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mirjana Spolyaric-Egger, discussing a wide range of bilateral and international issues.
The Russian Foreign Minister held meetings with the foreign ministers of Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Morocco and the Sahel states. During the meetings, the establishment of friendly relations and their maintenance on the world stage were discussed.
Lavrov arrived at the UN headquarters on September 24 to participate in the high-level week, which runs from September 22 to 30 under the motto "Working together: 80 years of joint work for peace, development and human rights and the way forward."
