Slantsevsky court arrested one of the defendants in the case of surrogate alcohol

The Slantsevsky City Court of the Leningrad region has arrested one of the defendants in the case of poisoning with surrogate alcohol in the Leningrad region. This was reported on September 27 in the regional press service of the united courts.

"The Slantsevsky City Court of the Leningrad Region has chosen a preventive measure against one of the suspects in the criminal case of poisoning with surrogate alcohol in the Leningrad region in the form of detention for one month and 30 days," the agency said in a Telegram channel.

The prosecutor's office said that the court also arrested a woman born in 1964. According to the investigation, she was engaged in the illegal purchase of alcoholic beverages without having an appropriate license. Then she stored it in Oil Shales, and after that she repeatedly transported and sold it to another defendant, which led to the death of many residents of the area.

As a result of intoxication, 12 people have already died.

Mass poisoning occurred on September 26 in the city of Slantsy, Leningrad region. It was reported that the death toll due to poisoning with surrogate alcohol increased to 19.

78-year-old Nikolai Boytsov and 60-year-old Olga Stepanova were detained during the investigation. During a search of Boytsov's apartment, empty glass bottles and plastic cans with a volume of up to 10 liters with a characteristic odor of alcohol-containing liquid were found.
