Iran has handed over to the Russian side about 34 km of land allocated for the construction of the Rasht–Astara railway for the North–South International Transport Corridor (MTK). This was announced on September 27 by the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic, Farzane Sadek.

"About 34 km has been transferred to a Russian company so that it can start work," the SNN news agency quoted him as saying.
