The decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) not to suspend Israeli football players from competitions is correct. This was announced on September 27 by Svetlana Zhurova, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

"UEFA did the right thing by deciding not to suspend Israeli football players. I am against the exclusion of Israel from sports in principle," she said in an interview with VseProSport.

According to Zhurova, the United Nations (UN) should deal with the country and its policies. The MP added that UEFA "does not even want to consider the issue of Israel's suspension," as such a decision "will put even more pressure on them."

She noted that at the moment the union is not responding to calls to return Russia and calls to remove Israel. According to Zhurova, international federations "decided to take revenge on Russian athletes." The deputy stressed that it is necessary to return athletes from the Russian Federation to international competitions.
