On September 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Sudan Kamil Idris discussed the military-political crisis in the republic within the framework of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

"During the conversation, the main focus was on the situation in Sudan in the context of the ongoing armed confrontation between units of the regular army and the Rapid Reaction Forces," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.

It was noted from the Russian side that it is necessary to cease hostilities in the near future and start a broad national dialogue.

Various issues related to the further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Sudanese relations were also discussed. The representatives discussed their willingness to strengthen foreign policy coordination at various meetings and forums.

On September 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation of the Republic of Burundi, Eduard Bizimana, within the framework of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York and discussed with him the further strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries.
