A Ukrainian blogger with 6.5 million subscribers was arrested in Japan after he illegally entered a house located in the exclusion zone of the Fukushima nuclear power plant. This was announced on September 26 by Radio France Internationale (RFI).

The article reports that the arrest, which took place in the exclusion zone of a nuclear power plant, was the second involving citizens from Ukraine over the past week. On Wednesday, September 24, two Ukrainians were arrested for illegally entering an empty house in Okuma, Fukushima Prefecture, while broadcasting live on social media.

The police are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident. Detainees may face fines and deportation.

NHK TV channel reported on July 18 that the Japanese energy company Kansai Electric Power Co. intends to conduct a geological survey and a number of other works in preparation for the reconstruction of the first power unit of the Mihama NPP. It is specified that if a new or replaced power unit is built, it will be the first such project after the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in 2011.

The accident occurred after a tsunami that knocked out its power supply and cooling systems. As a result, nuclear fuel melted in the reactors of three power units, which burned through the protective shells. This was accompanied by hydrogen explosions that damaged the fourth power unit. The complete dismantling of the nuclear power plant is planned to be completed by 2050.
