Moldovan President Maia Sandu really does not want to lose the upcoming elections in the country, which is why only two polling stations for Moldovans have opened in Russia. Ilan Shor, the leader of the Moldovan opposition bloc Pobeda, told Izvestia on September 26.

According to Shor, the Moldovan opposition really has a great chance of winning the elections on Sunday, September 28.

"The chances are really big. Today, the question is not only to win, but also to keep the victory, because Sandu's main argument is blackmail and threat. Today, our task is to make sure that our voters can come to the polls, so that the opposition can really vote the way it sees fit. Everyone knows that most people in the country are against Sandu. It is important to give an opportunity to hold fair elections in Moldova," the politician said.

He noted that only two polling stations will operate in Russia due to the Moldovan authorities' fear of hearing the real voices of people who are not influenced by Western trends.

"Because Sandu is afraid of the voices of people who are not saturated with propaganda. Diasporas living in Europe are saturated with propaganda. Maya Sandu is at home there, so she fakes and falsifies any, let's say, actual elections at those polling stations. Therefore, her main task was to limit the opportunity in Russia," Shor said.

If the opposition forces suddenly gain a majority of votes, the country will first of all change the currently occupied sphere of justice — judges, prosecutors and members of the Constitutional Court.

"Secondly, it is the disclosure of the crime that Sandu has done during all this time. The third is the immediate holding of early parliamentary elections, where indeed the entire opposition will be able to participate. And the fourth, of course, is the immediate solution to the problems of socio-economic people who are experiencing big problems today," the politician concluded.

On September 24, the Russian Foreign Ministry protested to the Moldovan ambassador over the refusal of observers in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR) mission. It is noted that these actions by the Moldovan authorities are a gross violation of international obligations and incompatible with the democratic values that the Moldovan leadership claims.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on July 30 that the Moldovan authorities' decision to open only two polling stations in Russia was pushing their own citizens. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Chisinau's decision violated the electoral rights of Moldovan citizens living outside the republic.
