During a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Hussein Abdullah al-Safadi called for more active efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible and for the release of hostages and prisoners. This was announced on September 26 by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
