Kirkorov exhumed his mother's ashes 31 years after her death.
Russian singer Philip Kirkorov announced on September 26 that he had transported the ashes of his mother Victoria Kirkorova and grandmother from Bulgaria to Moscow, where they will be reburied at the Troekurovsky cemetery next to his father.
The singer's mother passed away in 1994 and was buried in Sofia. However, given the difficulties of traveling to Bulgaria, Kirkorov decided to perform the reburial in the Russian capital.
"I moved the ashes of my grandmother and mother from Bulgaria to Moscow," Kirkorov said in an interview with <url>.
According to the singer, two urns with ashes are already in Moscow.
"It was so hard to do. Thank God, our Ministry of Foreign Affairs helped me. By hook or by crook, they took out the ashes of my mother and grandmother and brought them to Moscow. But it turned out that the ashes of my grandfather, who is in Moscow, are much more difficult to remove. I'm going through a lot of bureaucratic issues now, and I hope everything will work out," he said.
Kirkorov hopes that he will be able to complete all the procedures and erect a monument by the anniversary. He also selects sketches, wanting the monument to look the way he intended.
Earlier, on March 18, Philip Kirkorov announced the death of his father Bedros Kirkorov. He died of cardiac arrest. The artist was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery of the capital.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called People's Artist of Russia Bedros Kirkorov a unique person on March 21. Peskov noted that Kirkorov went through the entire Great Patriotic War. He also called the singer a man of art and added that the artist supported talented young people in their creative work.
