The media will regain the status of the only trusted source of information. This was announced on September 26 by Yuri Belousov, director of the news aggregator SMI2.

"The era when it was possible to create a media outlet "on its knees" and parasitize on someone else's content is coming to an end. In the near future, small media outlets that do not produce their own content will disappear. Only those who have a well-developed correspondent network, create unique analytics, investigations and expert materials will remain. The time is coming for real journalism and high—quality, proven content," he is quoted as saying on the aggregator's Telegram channel.

As Belousov noted, one of the main challenges for the media today is that the audience is increasingly consuming content directly in the feeds, without going to the publishers' pages. In addition, the drop in search traffic is due to the introduction of aggregators using artificial intelligence (AI) in search engines. They respond to requests without directing users to the sites. There is also an outflow of users to chatbots and applications.

According to the expert, if search companies continue to move towards the "no transition response" model, this may lead to a loss of audience and monetization for the media. In this case, Belousov argues, publishers will be forced to demand compensation from search engines for using their content to teach AI.

Yuri Belousov emphasizes that in order to preserve the quality of journalism, it is necessary to introduce regulatory measures that will ensure the transparency of algorithms and the preservation of organic output. He also noted the importance of developing a subscription model, which will avoid dependence on advertising revenue and search algorithms.

On September 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his welcoming telegram to the participants of the XXIX All Russia 2025 Forum of Modern Journalism, stressed the importance of the media in shaping public opinion and spiritual and moral guidelines. The Russian President stressed that adherence to journalistic ethics, promptness and reliability in covering major events are the main principles that make the media an important tool for society.
