Sobyanin announced the completion of the restoration of the Rostokinsky Aqueduct
The restoration of the Rostokinsky Aqueduct, which is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance, has been completed in Moscow. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
He recalled that at the end of the 18th century, the aqueduct was considered the largest stone bridge in Russia. "Then the construction was a key element of the first Moscow water pipeline, created by decree of Catherine II to solve the problem of shortage of drinking water," the mayor wrote in his channel in the MAX.
The plumbing has been working for over a hundred years. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was modernized: cast-iron pipes were laid, through which water was supplied to Moscow until the early 1960s.
During the restoration, the main task was to restore the object to its historical appearance and adapt it for use in modern realities. "Thanks to the comprehensive restoration in 2024-2025, the aqueduct received a new lease of life and became part of the walking route of the new Yauza Park," Sobyanin said. — Now you can also see here how the capital's water supply system worked two centuries ago. To do this, the gallery recreated a historical gutter with an imitation of a watercourse."
Earlier in September, Sergei Sobyanin announced the completion of the restoration of the historic building on Chistye Prudy, where the Oleg Tabakov Theater is located. "It is in 2025 that we celebrate the 90th anniversary of the theater's founder, Oleg Pavlovich Tabakov," the mayor noted. "His legacy is the cultural heritage of our country."
Sobyanin recalled that the building in which the theater is located is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. In this regard, special technologies and unique design solutions were used for the work. During the restoration, the structures were strengthened, all engineering systems were replaced, and modern stage equipment was installed.
