Patrushev announced his intention to increase trade turnover between Russia and India
On September 26, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, as part of a working visit to India, attended the opening of the World Food India 2025 exhibition together with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and also visited the exposition of Russian exporters of agricultural products.
"You know, Russia and India are strategic partners. We have been cooperating for many years, and in different directions. This year, Russia is taking part in the World Food India 2025 exhibition. Of course, this will help to increase the mutual turnover of agricultural products. But besides that, we held a number of quite important meetings, where comprehensive issues and a completely different agenda were discussed. These include the issues of increasing mutual trade in all areas, the signing of an agreement between the EAEU and the Republic of India, the creation of the BRICS grain exchange, which, in our opinion, is extremely important today and the decision that needs to be made is overdue, including the development of a strategic partnership between our countries in terms of economic development.. All this allows us to say that the trade turnover between Russia and India will grow. It increased by 12%. And I think that in the coming years we will only increase our trade turnover and our relations with our partners," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
This year, more than 30 Russian agricultural exporting companies are participating in the business mission. 16 domestic companies are represented at the exhibition. The main agricultural sub—sectors include grain, fat and oil, meat, dairy, confectionery, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, fish and seafood.
The business program of the Russian business mission at the World Food India 2025 exhibition is designed for three days. During this time, a number of business events will be held: a plenary session, industry round tables, as well as field meetings in Indian retail chains.
Dmitry Patrushev said during a bilateral meeting with Modi the day before that India is one of Russia's key partners in the international arena. The parties also discussed the work on concluding a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and India. In addition, the topic of creating a BRICS grain exchange was raised, which will help increase mutual supplies of agricultural products.
