Two residents of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk lost more than 1.4 million rubles due to fraudsters. Criminal cases have been initiated.

Scammers called a woman born in 1939 on her home phone. First, the "telecom operator" asked to dictate the passport data, ostensibly to replace the number. Then the "law enforcement officer" convinced the pensioner that someone was transferring her money abroad. SakhalinMedia news agency writes about this.

At the direction of the third interlocutor, the elderly woman went to the bank, withdrew 421 thousand rubles from the account and handed it to a stranger. Then the scammers called a taxi for the pensioner to go to two other addresses and collect money from other "victims of fraud."

In a similar way, scammers deceived an 85-year-old man. An inspection is underway.

In the Lipetsk region, a 35-year-old woman gave 570 thousand rubles to fraudsters. She expected to receive income from the "investment."
