Two new divisions of firefighters and rescuers have opened in Moscow.
Two new units of firefighters and rescuers — in the districts of Severny and Voronovo — have started duty in Moscow. This was announced on the MACH channel by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
"The opening of new divisions is part of a large—scale program to develop Moscow's security system," Sobyanin wrote. This helps to reduce the reaction time to any incidents, the mayor emphasized.
The building in the Severny district is equipped with powerful equipment. A special tower with a climbing wall and a firing obstacle course are equipped for staff training. In the Voronovo TiNAO district, the building of detachment No. 4 was overhauled. The unit was equipped with ATVs and snowmobiles to work in forest parks.
About 18,000 people work in the Moscow fire and rescue garrison, the mayor said. "Thanks to the well-coordinated work of the staff, the number of fires and their consequences has been reduced fourfold," Sobyanin said. The time for rescuers to arrive at any point is less than seven minutes.
Over the past 15 years, more than 700 pieces of equipment and over 150,000 pieces of equipment have been purchased for the Moscow Fire and Rescue service, Sobyanin previously reported. 53 fire stations were built and renovated, 16 of them in TiNAO.
