A suspect in the sale of surrogate alcohol was detained in the Leningrad region.

In the Leningrad region, a resident of the village of Gostitsy was detained, suspected of selling alcohol-containing liquid to fellow villagers, which led to fatal poisoning. This was announced by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.

"In the Leningrad region, my colleagues from the local police detained a resident of the village of Gostitsy. He is suspected of selling alcohol—containing liquid to fellow villagers, as a result of which seven people died and three were hospitalized with poisoning," Volk said.

All the circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated.
