Chief Editors The Insider Olevsky was put on the wanted list in Russia
Timur Olevsky, the editor-in-chief of The Insider (recognized in Russia as a foreign media agent and an undesirable organization), was put on the wanted list in Russia. The corresponding card was posted on September 25 in the search database of the Russian Interior Ministry.
The specific article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation under which Olevsky is wanted is not specified.
On July 16, the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Carrying out the activities of a foreign organization in respect of which a decision was made to declare its activities undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation").
It was clarified that the defendant took part in the publication of three videos in which anti-Russian rhetoric is promoted, a negative opinion is formed about Russian politics and government authorities are discredited.
Earlier, on July 3, 2024, the Cheremushkinsky District Court of Moscow registered an administrative protocol on participation in an undesirable organization against the founder and editor-in-chief of The Insider online publication (recognized in Russia as a foreign media agent) Roman Dobrokhotov (also included in the register of foreign agents).
Then the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation announced that it had decided to recognize The Insider's activities in the territory of the Russian Federation as undesirable. In August of the same year, the journalist was arrested in absentia for illegally crossing the border with Ukraine.
