In Tbilisi, unknown persons painted portraits of dead mercenaries who participated in combat operations as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported on September 25 by military correspondent Yuri Kotenok.

"In Tbilisi, someone painted portraits of dead Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters, including Georgian legionnaires who went to Ukraine," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

It is clarified that pro-Western activists in the region expressed extreme indignation and demanded that those responsible for the incident be brought to justice. They also announced their intention to conduct their own investigation and "break the hands" of those responsible for the incident. Most of the residents, however, showed no interest in what had happened, the war correspondent stressed.

On August 13, the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation reported that a mercenary from Georgia, Aleko Elisashvili, was convicted in absentia for participating in the Ukrainian conflict on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was clarified that he joined the armed group in March 2022.
