An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 was recorded in Kamchatka. This was announced on September 26 at the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
It is specified that the seismic event occurred at 23:22 local time (14:22 Moscow time) in the Avacha Bay at a distance of 210 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Its source was located at a depth of 16.6 km.
On September 25, the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that Kamchatka remains in danger of the Young Shiveluch volcano releasing ash to an altitude of 10 km above sea level. They warned that respiratory protection equipment should be used when ash falls.
