Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, where they discussed the importance of supporting the Syrian authorities to stabilize the country. This was announced on September 26 by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"When discussing the Syrian issue, a general opinion was expressed on the importance of providing support to the Syrian authorities," the Telegram channel said.

Lavrov and Hussein also agreed on the need to support the Syrian authorities in overcoming the transition period in the interests of long-term stabilization of the situation in the country and its post-conflict reconstruction.

The Ministers discussed the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and agreed that it is necessary to immediately cease fire, release detainees and provide humanitarian assistance to all those in need. They also stressed the importance of intensifying international efforts to achieve a lasting and comprehensive settlement of the conflict.

On September 25, Lavrov and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdel Ata discussed the settlement of the situation in the Middle East. The ministers agreed on the need for foreign policy coordination between Moscow and Cairo on international platforms.
