Lavrov and the Egyptian Foreign Minister discussed the settlement in the Middle East
On September 25, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdel Ata discussed the settlement of the situation in the Middle East.
"An interested exchange of views took place on the current Middle East issues, with an emphasis on the dramatic development of events in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. The tasks of a reliable settlement in Lebanon, Syria, Sudan and Libya were also considered," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.
The Ministers agreed on the need for foreign policy coordination between Moscow and Cairo on international platforms, including at the United Nations (UN).
The topic of strengthening the traditionally friendly Russian-Egyptian relations was also raised. The Ministers took the time to discuss preparations for the first Russian-Arab Summit in Moscow on October 15 and the second ministerial conference of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum in Cairo on November 18-19.
Patrice Lumumba's daughter, politician Juliana Lumumba, spoke on September 23 about the importance of cooperation between Russia and African countries at the Food Quality and Safety conference. She outlined the nuance that when we talk about Africa, we should take into account its diversity.
